Dry Ash Storage
Completion: June 2015
Project Description:
Municipalities have a variety of specifications and requirements that require due diligence and attention to detail. This project is an example of a municipal project that required detailed integration at all project stages including design, detailing, and procurement.
This water treatment plant expansion in Connecticut consisted of the addition of (3) shop welded ash loading bins located inside a truck loading building and (2) field welded ash storage silos. The specifications required that silos utilize aluminum components in the guardrail and spiral stair systems, which is not a typical approach in industrial storage silo applications. The aluminum components had to be detailed and fabricated to interface with the silos without a trial fit-up in one of the suppliers shops. The coordination and integration of information from both suppliers was critical to the success of the project.
Redpoint’s diverse scope included start to finish project management. Redpoint also supplied detailing services for the field welded silos, including full general arrangement drawings, fabrication detailing, and installation drawings. The details for the aluminum systems were also incorporated by Redpoint.
